What is it?

Lyophilization is the process that extracts water from products, such as food, so the products remain stable and are easier to store at room temperature ("What Is Lyophilization"). This process is also called freeze-drying; products that go through freezing usually experience damage that paralyzes activity, but lyophilization is a complex process, allowing scientists to be able to freeze delicate materials without the risk of damaging it ("Lyophilization"). Freeze-drying can also be used to separate and recover volatile substances, and purify materials ("Freeze-Drying").
